On the evening of December 17, 2025, the Ferrisburgh Volunteer Fire Department conducted a comprehensive vehicle stabilization and extrication training, hosted in partnership with the Monkton Volunteer Fire Department. The hands-on training focused on modern extrication techniques, scene safety, and the effective use of specialized rescue equipment recently donated to Ferrisburgh Fire.
Monkton Fire personnel led the session, sharing their experience and providing detailed instruction on stabilizing overturned vehicles, tool placement, coordinated crew operations, and patient-access considerations. Although Ferrisburgh Fire is not designated as a heavy rescue department, members routinely train to ensure they can safely and effectively perform vehicle extrication when circumstances require immediate action.
The training emphasized the importance of teamwork, clear communication, and mutual-aid collaboration. Crews rotated through multiple scenarios, allowing members to practice hands-on skills while reinforcing decision-making under realistic nighttime and winter conditions.
Ferrisburgh Fire expressed its appreciation to the Monkton Volunteer Fire Department for their time, instruction, and continued partnership. Training opportunities like this strengthen regional response capabilities and ensure that residents receive the highest level of service during motor vehicle accidents and other emergencies.
