The Ferrisburgh Vol. Fire Dept. responded on the night of December 8, 2025, to assist with a structure fire on Upper Meadow Lane in Charlotte, supporting a large multi-agency operation under challenging winter conditions.
Ferrisburgh deployed both its tanker and Engine 1 to the scene. The tanker was assigned to water supply operations, ensuring continuous support to suppression efforts, while Engine 1 assisted with overhaul operations as crews worked to fully extinguish remaining hot spots and secure the structure. Both units later returned to service after completing their assignments.
Despite icy and “greasy” road conditions, firefighters operated safely and effectively, maintaining readiness throughout the incident. While resources were committed in Charlotte, the Ferrisburgh station remained staffed to ensure continued coverage for the town and surrounding areas.
The incident highlighted strong regional cooperation, with crews from Charlotte Fire, Vergennes Fire, Shelburne Fire, Hinesburg Fire, Monkton Fire, South Burlington Fire, and Vergennes Area Rescue Squad all working together to bring the scene under control.
Officials reminded motorists to slow down and use caution during winter weather, particularly near active emergency scenes, as crews continue to operate in hazardous conditions across the region.
