Pompton Plains, New Jersey — December 27 — In response to a working residential structure fire, Department Pompton Plains Engine Company #1, situated at 30 Jackson Avenue, was sent into Kinnelon on mutual aid. Company 1 reacted with the 1-1 equipment and deployed workers to assist with on-site operations. Incident command functioned in a defensive posture due to a high fire load, which was comparable to circumstances observed during a response the day before.
In order to help fire suppression efforts, Pompton Plains firemen deployed exterior hoselines to aid Kinnelon personnel. The incident command system was used for operations, and agencies coordinated their communications. During complicated residential fire occurrences, officials pointed out that mutual aid actions like this enable departments to exchange resources and maintain safe operations.
