Winter Storm Watch Issued for Luzerne County and Surrounding Areas

December 24, 2025 – A Winter Storm Watch was issued by the National Weather Service Binghamton at 1:19 p.m. on December 24 and remains in effect until 10:00 a.m. Sunday, December 27. The watch includes portions of northeast Pennsylvania, including Luzerne, Wyoming, and Bradford counties, as well as parts of central New York. Forecasters warn that heavy mixed precipitation is possible, with total snow and sleet accumulations between four and eight inches and ice accumulations around one-tenth of an inch. The storm is expected to develop Friday afternoon and continue through Saturday morning, with hazardous travel conditions likely and potential impacts to the Friday evening commute. Residents are urged to closely monitor updated forecasts and prepare for possible difficult travel conditions.
