Nanticoke City Fire Department Issues Winter Weather Advisory Update

December 23, 2025 – Nanticoke City Fire Department, in coordination with the City of Nanticoke and Nanticoke Firefighters IAFF Local 2655, shared an update to a Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service Binghamton. The advisory was released at 8:46 a.m. on December 23 and remained in effect until 4:00 p.m. the same day for Luzerne, Lackawanna, and Wyoming counties. Forecasters called for mixed precipitation, with additional snowfall of up to two inches and a light glaze of ice, creating slippery road conditions throughout the region. Snow was expected to taper to light mixed precipitation or drizzle by early afternoon. Motorists were urged to slow down, use caution while traveling, and adjust speeds to roadway conditions, as emphasized by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
