On December 15, Independence Township Fire and EMS units responded to a functioning commercial box in the City of Aliquippa's 91s area on a second-alarm assignment. Crews from Aliquippa Firefighters responded to the event as an all-hands commercial structure fire. The Engine and Squad companies from Independence Township responded to help with overhaul operations inside the building and to supply more personnel. Due to hydrant problems brought on by the area's low temperatures, a tanker business was also hired to maintain the water supply.
