Milton, PA

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

This 1953 International pumper (500/500) has served on both sides of the fence in the private and public sectors. Originally built for the Department of Defense where it served assisting other neighboring fire departments. When the Civil Defense apparatus was phased out, the engine it was later assigned to the Lewisburg Penitentiary in Lewisburg, PA. After it's run in Lewisburg it was purchased by the Goodwill Fire Company in Milton, PA and shortly later moved across town to serve with the Independent Fire Company also in Milton, PA. After Milton, it was removed from service and purchased privately by a member of Milton who kept it in barn for decades.

The engine was luckily brought back to life by another former member of Milton a few years ago whom restored the engine back to it's former glory. Today, the engine resides in Central Pennsylvania where it attends many area fire department and car show functions, often winning awards.

Many thanks to Mr. Myers for his time and knowledge
