Allegheny, PA - Volunteer firefighters from multiple area departments executed a mechanical extrication Tuesday morning after a passenger vehicle struck a utility pole and flipped onto its roof along Bunola River Road.
Emergency units were dispatched at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment near the intersection of Bunola River Road and Carousel Drive. Responding crews from SouthEast Regional EMS and Tri-Community Ambulance arrived first on scene, reporting a single vehicle resting on its roof against a utility pole with one occupant confined inside the passenger compartment.
Firefighters from Gallatin Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department (Station 154), Elizabeth Borough VFC (Station 139), and West Mifflin #4 (Station 48) deployed vehicle stabilization and hydraulic extrication tools. Rescue crews systematically forced and removed the vehicle doors, clearing structural obstructions to free the patient.
Following the extrication, the patient was transferred to emergency medical personnel for clinical stabilization and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.
