7:37 pm: Multiple Montgomery County Region 2 and Region 1 units were dispatched to a house fire on Halloween night in the 200 block of Lexington Rd. in Perkiomen Township.
Initial reports indicated the house was on fire with heavy smoke and flames. All occupants of the 200 block townhomes were evacuated before personnel arrived. Three cats from the house of origin did not make it out; one was found deceased, and two were declared missing toward the end of fire operations.
Perkiomen Captain 66 arrived first at 7:42 pm and confirmed fire showing from the A side, instructing the first-in unit to lay in. Captain 66 assumed command and performed a 360 of the townhome block. Lower Frederick Ladder 52 arrived as the first due aerial on the A side. Limerick Engine 51 arrived as the first due engine on the C side and immediately laid in at the closest hydrant on Concord Rd with five-inch hose to establish the only water supply for fire operations. The Engine 51 crew made entry from the C side a few minutes later. Engine 66 connected to Engine 51 to get another line in service on the C side.
Ladder 52 and crew were assigned engine tasks upon arrival on the A side and deployed 2 ½ inch for fire attack, making entry. Command reported that water was on the fire at 7:49 pm. Ladder 51 and 52 crews gained access to the roof for ventilation. Lexington Command was advised of the first 10-minute mark at 7:56 pm. At the 20-minute mark at 8:06 pm, Lexington Command reported that the bulk of the fire had been knocked, with all companies working. The fire was brought under control at 8:09 pm.
Standby units were set for regional coverage and were handled by Worcester Ladder 83 and Upper Providence Engine 68. RFIT1 regional fire marshals were called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. All units were made available at 11:30 pm.
