Utica, N.Y. — October 5, 2026 — Utica Fire Academy trainees engaged in practical exercises covering aerial work and ground ladder techniques, including apparatus setup, proper ladder positioning, and safe elevated operations.
The session provided new participants with hands-on practice using gear and methods employed during fireground operations. Good placement of equipment and ladders matters in truck company tasks, as it assists crews in setting up rescue access, backing up fire attack efforts, and reaching high spots when needed.
