Elma, N.Y. — October 8 — Elma Volunteer Fire Company invited children from Elma United Methodist Nursery School for a visit focused on fire prevention. The event introduced 3- and 4-year-old students to the equipment and work of fire and emergency medical services.

Firefighters and members of the AMR ambulance team from unit 529 assisted the children during the visit.

The students had the chance to explore the tools used by emergency responders and took part in interactive activities with help from department staff and EMS personnel.

The visit allowed the children to learn about the roles of firefighters and emergency medical crews in a comfortable, familiar environment. By meeting the responders and seeing their equipment, the students gained an introduction to the people and tools involved in emergency response.

These community outreach efforts also enabled emergency service personnel to connect with young residents and share important safety information. Early education on fire safety can help children become more familiar with emergency responders and understand their role in keeping the public safe.

Elma Volunteer Fire Company operates from 2945 Bowen Road in Elma, New York, as noted on the Town of Elma’s emergency information page. The town included the company in its list of local fire services serving the community.

The visit with the nursery school offered a valuable learning experience for the children and supported ongoing community education. Firefighters and EMS personnel contributed their time and participation to make the session a success.
