Firefighters Bring Fire Prevention Lessons to Catskill Students

Catskill, N.Y. — October 10, 2026 — Firefighters from Catskill Fire Company arrived at Catskill Elementary School with an engine and tower apparatus for a fire prevention program, joining personnel from Kiskatom Fire Department, Palenville Fire Department, and Greene County HazMat team for a day of fire safety education.

Students had a chance to learn about fire safety, examine firefighting equipment firsthand, and explore the community role of emergency responders.

Firefighters presented the tools used during emergencies by using the apparatus and equipment displays. Greene County HazMat workers teamed up with Kiskatom and Palenville firefighters to showcase gear and describe their emergency response duties.
