Wellsville, NY - Volunteer members and apparatus from the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department took to the training grounds on Sunday, October 11, 2026, to assist with instructional evolutions for the regional Interior Firefighter Operations (IFO) course.
Hosted at the Wellsville Emergency Services Training Facility, the hands-on session focused heavily on the vital fundamentals of interior engine company tactics, with primary emphasis placed on hoseline operations. Wellsville 2 responded to the training site to provide essential equipment, pumping capabilities, and tactical support for the participating student firefighters.
Throughout the course evolutions, candidates drilled on stretching, advancing, and maneuvering charged attack lines through confined structural corridors, operating smooth-bore and fog nozzles, and maintaining effective hose management under realistic interior conditions.
Department personnel worked alongside course instructors to mentor trainees, reinforcing that disciplined line control, proper water flow mechanics, and seamless nozzle coordination form the bedrock of safe and effective interior structural firefighting.
