Farmington, NY - Volunteer firefighters from the Farmington Volunteer Fire Association took advantage of an acquired residential dwelling Monday evening, conducting comprehensive search and interior fire attack evolutions in a realistic structural environment.

The practical training session, held on the evening of Monday, October 19, 2026, utilized a donated single-family home that will serve as a dedicated training platform for department personnel over the next several months. Operating within the realistic layouts of true-to-life bedrooms, hallways, and living spaces, crews drilled on rapid primary search procedures, hoseline advancements, interior nozzle mechanics, and structural navigation under challenging visibility conditions.

Acquired structures provide volunteer emergency responders with rare, high-value opportunities to execute aggressive tactical movements in unfamiliar architecture that closely mirrors real-world emergency responses—an experience difficult to replicate in static training towers.

Department leaders expressed deep gratitude to the property owners for their generous contribution, emphasizing that having multi-month access to the residence will allow Farmington crews to continually refine technical maneuvers, enhance inter-crew communication, and maintain sharp operational readiness across the district.
