Standish, ME — October 13 — Standish Fire-EMS recently honored Lieutenant Kevin Warren during a Town Council meeting for his more than 54 years of service to the department and the surrounding communities. As part of the recognition, a plaque was presented dedicating the new Engine 3 in his name.
Throughout his career, Warren held nearly every position within the department, starting as a firefighter and EMT before advancing to become chief of department. Over the years, he responded to numerous emergency calls, trained fellow members, maintained department equipment, and helped establish and support the fleet of vehicles.
His contributions also extended to the selection and development of fire apparatus. A 2005 Portland Press Herald report noted that Warren led the effort to plan a new rescue pumper for Station 3, highlighting his long-term involvement in equipment planning and department operations.
In the coming weeks, Warren was expected to step down from his role as lieutenant of Engine Company 3 at the Steep Falls station. After more than 35 years in a formal leadership position, he would return to the rank of firefighter while continuing to be an active member of the department.
Although his officer responsibilities were ending, Warren was anticipated to continue sharing his expertise with newer firefighters and assisting the crews.
The dedication of Engine 3 acknowledged his years of service, leadership, and contributions behind the scenes. Standish Fire-EMS continues to depend on experienced members to support training, equipment readiness, and emergency response throughout the community.
