Winslow Fire Department Partners with Safety and Survival Training for Technical Rescue Drill

Winslow, NJ - Firefighters hired by the Winslow Township Fire Department over the past few years achieved crucial professional milestones this past week, successfully completing a comprehensive Confined Space Technical Rescue certification curriculum.

Conducted in partnership with professional instructors from Safety and Survival Training, the intensive multi-day program certified members across all three key tiers of technical rescue—Awareness, Operations, and Technician levels—in full compliance with national NFPA standards.

Participants completed rigorous classroom lectures focused on air monitoring, atmospheric hazards, ventilation techniques, and rescue incident command before advancing to hands-on practical evolutions. The hands-on drills challenged firefighters to rig mechanical advantage haul systems, utilize tripod anchors, operate specialized retrieval equipment, and navigate heavily restricted spaces in full personal protective gear.
