Engine 733 and Truck 741 Coordinate Fast Knockdown and Search at Crescent Place Home

Atlantic City, NJ - An aggressive interior push by Ho-Ho-Kus firefighters and swift mutual aid support brought a heavy basement fire under control within 35 minutes early Monday morning, allowing all occupants to safely evacuate the dwelling.

At approximately 5:40 a.m. on September 28, 2026, the Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to Crescent Place following reports of a confirmed residential structure fire. First-arriving units encountered active, heavy fire originating in the home's basement.

Engine 733 arrived quickly on scene and immediately stretched a charged handline into the lower level, making an aggressive direct attack on the seat of the fire to halt vertical extension into the upper living spaces. Simultaneously, personnel from Truck 741 and Engine 731 conducted interior primary searches to ensure no residents remained inside, while all occupants managed to evacuate the home without injury.

Due to the intense smoke conditions and demand for operational personnel, incident commanders summoned extensive mutual aid from surrounding communities. Assisting on scene with secondary search, ventilation, overhaul, and rapid intervention coverage were units from Ridgewood, Waldwick, Wyckoff, Saddle River, Midland Park, and the Township of Washington.

Through coordinated operations, command officially declared the fire under control approximately 35 minutes after dispatch. Crews remained on site conducting thorough overhaul and checking thermal imaging cameras for hidden heat pockets before clearing the scene.
