Alexander Bowyer Was Promoted to Lieutenant

East Hartford, CT — September 4 — The East Hartford Fire Department announced the promotion of Alexander Bowyer to lieutenant following several months of serving in an acting capacity.

Bowyer officially received the promotion on Thursday, September 3, and continued his assignment with Engine 3 on Group 4. The promotion added an officer role to his responsibilities while keeping him assigned to an engine company.

Bowyer had previously served as a firefighter-paramedic with the department. The town's 2020 annual report identified Bowyer among department personnel and noted his work with Assistant Chief Kevin Munson during the COVID-19 response.

The East Hartford Fire Department operated five fire stations and staffed five pumping engines, along with aerial, rescue and other specialty apparatus. The department provided fire suppression, emergency medical services, technical rescue and hazardous materials response.

The department's training division also handled officer preparation along with training in fire suppression, technical rescue, hazardous materials, apparatus operations and incident command.

Bowyer's promotion placed him in a formal leadership position within the department's suppression operations. Members of the East Hartford Fire Department recognized the promotion and congratulated Lt. Bowyer as he continued his service with Engine 3 and Group 4.
