Chelsea Firefighters Completed Search and Rescue Drills

Chelsea, ME — September 16 — Members of the Chelsea Fire Department participated in search and rescue training exercises with the Togus Fire Department as part of their ongoing training efforts.

This session allowed Chelsea firefighters to practice various search techniques and engage in realistic rescue simulations.

The drills helped them enhance their skills in locating and assisting individuals during emergencies, especially in challenging conditions that might complicate rescue operations.

Training with another department also enabled firefighters to work with personnel from different crews.

These joint exercises helped them understand different operational approaches, communication styles, and how to coordinate responses effectively.

The Chelsea Fire Department has consistently followed a regular training schedule.

According to a Town of Chelsea newsletter, the department meets every Wednesday evening for training and meetings and has completed several training days throughout the year.They have also engaged in specialized training sessions covering areas like pump operations.

The Maine Emergency Management Agency has also recognized search and rescue as a key component of emergency management training across the state.

The September 16 exercise provided Chelsea firefighters with additional hands-on practice while reinforcing collaboration with the Togus Fire Department.

The department’s training program remains focused on building practical skills that can be applied during real emergency responses.
