Topsham First Responders Remember 9/11 After 25 Years

Twenty-five years following the September 11 attacks, firefighters and emergency responders nationwide still honor the 2,977 lives lost that day and the first responders who worked at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the crash site in Pennsylvania. 

For the emergency-services community in Topsham, Maine, the anniversary holds personal significance. In a September 11, 2026 remembrance post from Topsham Fire & Rescue, Elizabeth Reeves and Scott Hollowachtwo department memberswere noted as having responded to Ground Zero.

Reeves' experience has previously been documented by the Press Herald. At the time of the attacks, she was working as an emergency medical technician with the New York Fire Department. She was stationed at an FDNY EMS facility in Harlem when the first reports came in and responded with her ambulance crew to Lower Manhattan.
