Brewer, ME — September 11, 2026 — Firefighters, police officers and community members gathered at Central Fire Station in Bangor on Friday morning to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The ceremony brought together firefighters from Bangor, Brewer and Hermon, who stood alongside their apparatus during the remembrance. The event honored the people who died that day, their families and the first responders whose lives were changed by the attacks.
Three hundred forty-three American flags were placed on the lawn outside Central Fire Station, with each flag representing an FDNY member who died while responding to the attacks. A set of folded firefighter protective gear was positioned near the station bell as part of the ceremony.
