Jesse Beam Completes First Year With Bangor Fire Department

Bangor, ME — September 15, 2026 — This week, a Bangor firefighter celebrated a significant career milestone by completing his first year with the Bangor Fire Department and successfully concluding his probationary period. 

Firefighter Jesse Beam was honored at a department ceremony and received his permanently marked helmet, signifying the end of his probationary period. 

In its September 15 announcement, the department stated that during his first year with Bangor Fire, Beam responded to 672 emergency calls. The department also provided him with the history of helmet number 36, which had been worn by Lieutenant Mark Dunbar, Firefighter Tim Campbell, and Firefighter David Rudolph. 

The presentation honors firefighters as they finish their probationary period and also links them to the legacy of past members who served under the same shield number. 

Bangor Fire is among Maine’s bigger municipal fire departments. The city stated that the department responded to nearly 11,000 calls in the prior fiscal year, underscoring the extent of emergency services its firefighters handle.
