Chatham Firefighters Join Community in 9/11 Remembrance

On Friday nite, locals, first responders, and community members came together to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, honoring the first responders who gave their lives and the almost 3,000 individuals who were slain.

The September 11 Memorial, located in Memorial Park on North Passaic Avenue, beside the Library of the Chathams, hosted the yearly remembering service. According to the Boro of Chatham, the event started at 6:30 p.m. For those who wished to take part in the community observance, a second viewing area was offered at Reasoner Park/Firehouse Plaza.

This year's ceremony honored the bravery of firefighters, law police, emergency medical services, military personnel, volunteers, and civilians who responded during and after the attacks, commemorating 25 years since the bombings.

Chatham Borough's official announcement said 13 Chatham residents were among those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The ceremony was held to remember those residents, along with the thousands of others killed that day.

Members of the local fire service were among those taking part in the remembrance. The Chatham Borough Volunteer Fire Department Association thanked everyone who attended and said the community renewed its commitment to never forget those who were lost.
