Rocky Hill Firefighters Honored Those Lost on 9/11

Rocky Hill, N.J. — September 11 — The Rocky Hill Fire Department honored the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, by paying tribute to the people who lost their lives and the first responders who were involved during the attacks and the events that followed.

Almost 3,000 individuals were killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93.

The 9/11 Memorial & Museum commemorated the 25th anniversary with a ceremony that involved reading the names of those who perished.

For firefighters and emergency personnel, the anniversary also highlighted the long-term consequences of their response efforts.

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum included a moment of silence in its annual ceremony to honor those who later died from illnesses or injuries linked to the events of 9/11.

The Rocky Hill Fire Department, located at 154 Washington Street, has been serving the community since 1902.

The department has evolved from a simple company that used a hand-drawn hook-and-ladder truck to a modern volunteer fire department.Its members are trained in fire suppression, search and rescue, rapid intervention, and swift-water rescue, responding to more than 200 calls each year.

The anniversary offered an opportunity for the emergency services community to remember those who were lost, acknowledge the efforts of responders, and continue sharing the lessons of September 11 with future generations.
