Manville Fire Department Marked the 25th Anniversary of 9/11

Manville, N.J. — September 11 — The Manville Fire Department honored the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks by remembering the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives and the emergency responders who gave their lives while responding to the situation.

According to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, and 37 Port Authority Police Department officers were killed on September 11.

In total, 441 first responders from more than 30 agencies lost their lives that day.

For members of the fire service, the anniversary was a time to remember the firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, and other responders who worked during the rescue and recovery efforts.

The Manville Fire Department, located at 325 N.

Main St., has served the borough through its fire and emergency response operations.The borough has three fire stations and continues to provide fire and emergency management services for the community.

The department’s September 11 remembrance linked Manville’s local fire service with a national day of remembrance.

The anniversary also acknowledged the ongoing work of emergency personnel who carry the lessons and memories of that day into their daily service.

For firefighters and other emergency service workers, September 11 remains a reminder of service, teamwork, and the importance of remembering those who did not return home.
