Hillsborough Firefighters Completed Firefighter Training

Hillsborough, N.J. — September 1 — Hillsborough Fire Co.#3 — Station 38 honored Foreman Tom Perlitz and Firefighter Ernie Park for successfully completing firefighter training programs at the Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy.

Perlitz earned his certification through the Firefighter 2 program, while Park completed the Firefighter 1 training.

These achievements reflect the department’s continued emphasis on training and readiness for emergency situations.

The Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy offers training for firefighters and other emergency responders, helping them develop the skills necessary for various types of incidents and operations.

Station 38, located at 324 Woods Road in Hillsborough, was established in 1955 and was part of Hillsborough Township Fire District 1.

The station operated a variety of equipment, including an engine, ladder truck, tanker, brush unit, and rescue vehicle.

Firefighters from Station 38 have also collaborated with nearby departments during incidents that required extra support.

Their past responses included structure fires, water rescues, and other emergency calls.

Continuing education through firefighter training is essential for maintaining the department’s operational effectiveness.

Completing both Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2 programs provided Perlitz and Park with additional skills to enhance their roles within the Hillsborough fire service.

The department extended its congratulations to both members for reaching these milestones and acknowledged their ongoing dedication to training and service.
