— September 12 — On Saturday, volunteers from South Brunswick's volunteer fire service visited Durga Mandir on Route 27 to interact with locals and spread the word about volunteer firefighting.

The outreach initiative involved representatives from the Monmouth Junction Volunteer Fire Department, Kingston Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, and Kendall Park Volunteer Fire Company. During the tour, the firemen encouraged community residents to think about joining the fire service and explained the role of local volunteers.

The township's three fire districts are served by the three departments that comprise the South Brunswick Fire Service. To encourage more locals to join the fire service, the service recognizes all three departments as volunteer-based organizations and conducts a coordinated recruitment campaign.
