Green Knoll Fire Department Marked 25 Years Since 9/11

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — September 11 — The Green Knoll Fire Department honored the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks by paying tribute to the civilians and emergency workers who perished that day.

On that day, nineteen terrorists took control of four planes and used them to crash into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The attacks resulted in the deaths of 2,977 people.Among the victims were 343 New York City firefighters, as well as other emergency responders, including police officers, paramedics, and first aid workers.

For fire and emergency service personnel, the anniversary also served as a time to reflect on the lessons learned from the response.

Federal investigations highlighted several issues, such as difficulties with radio communication, command and control, building access, evacuation procedures, and the safety of responders.These findings led to significant changes in building regulations, fire safety standards, communication protocols, and emergency response strategies.

The Green Knoll Fire Department joined fire departments across the country in remembering those who served, those who were lost, and the ongoing responsibility to learn from the events of September 11.
