Olean, NY - Career firefighters completed a month-long series of intensive tactical evolutions on Monday, reinforcing core engine and truck company proficiencies to maintain sharp operational readiness across the city.
Throughout the month of August, personnel assigned to A Platoon with the City of Olean Fire Department in Cattaraugus County dedicated shift training blocks to mastering high-impact structural firefighting disciplines.
The evolutions focused on the deployment and placement of ground ladders for rapid upper-floor access and secondary egress, practical forcible entry techniques through reinforced commercial and residential barriers, and advanced fire behavior dynamics to better anticipate thermal changes, smoke conditions, and flow paths inside burning structures. By continually drilling on these foundational skills, Olean firefighters ensure rapid, coordinated, and safe execution during structural fireground operations.
