Twenty years ago, on September 9th, North Hudson Regional Firefighter Vincent Neglia gave his life in the Line-of-Duty while operating at a fire on Bergenline av., in Union City. Neglia was originally a member of the former North Bergen FD. He was normally assigned to Engine Co. 13, in North Bergen.

On that 2006 evening, captains that were taking the battalion chief's test, in the morning, were excused from duty. Vinny was transferred to Squad Co. 2 in Union City, to fill in a position, and he lost his life while making a search of the fire building. "If he was your friend, you had a friend for life and his heart was as big as anyone's," said Chief of Department David Donnarumma.

At noon on September 9th, First Battalion Chief Miller, left, and current members of Squad Co. 2 lined up for a noon remembrance with a radio message that was announce to all regional houses. Members of all North Hudson firehouses were lined up in front of their quarters for the memorial message.
