Poland Spring Donates Water to Hancock County Fire Departments

September 3, 2026 — Penobscot, Maine: Three pallets of bottled water were donated by Poland Spring Natural Spring Water to many fire departments in the Penobscot and Blue Hill Peninsula region, giving firemen at emergency scenes a vital resource.

Blue Hill Fire, Penobscot Volunteer Fire Department, Brooklin Fire Department, Deer Isle Volunteer Fire Department, Stonington Fire Department, Castine Fire Department, Orland Fire Department, Brooksville Volunteer Fire Department, and Sedgwick Volunteer Fire Department all received a portion of the funding.

Wearing full protective gear, firefighters can operate for hours in hot, dry environments. At fire scenes, having drinking water on hand makes it easier for personnel to stay hydrated and carry on safely. The offer is made at a time when Maine is still experiencing significant drought. After another summer of below-average rainfall, the Maine Emergency Management Agency reported on September 3 that drought conditions were worsening throughout much of the state.

The departments will transport supplies to emergency scenes for firefighters and other crews, as well as distribute water among their stations. Poland Spring claims that one of their continuous community assistance initiatives is donating products to charities throughout Maine.
