1964 Maxim S Engine Returns to Medway Fire Department

After the department's 1964 Maxim S Engine 1 was completely restored, a piece of Medway Fire Department history has come home.

Following restoration work by Sturgis Hauling and Restoration, Specialty Vehicles completed the antique engine's final touches and Gregg Heger added new gold-leaf writing and striping.

For the first time in 36 years, the department put the 1964 Maxim S "in service." The engine is currently a part of the department's collection of historic equipment and is anticipated to be used for ceremonial and communal purposes. Byron Vinton, a former Medway firefighter, received particular recognition for returning the vehicle to the Town of Medway five years ago. Retired Chaplain Rick Marcoux blessed it as town officials, police officers, and current and former firefighters gathered to celebrate its return.

A portion of Medway's fire service history is represented by the restored Maxim S, which will provide citizens and current members a chance to view a former department apparatus that has been maintained for future generations.
