Boothbay Harbor Fire Department Marked 25 Years Since 9/11

BOOTHBAY HARBOR, ME — September 11 — Boothbay Harbor Fire Department, located at 11 Howard St, Boothbay Harbor, ME, United States, 04538, participated in emergency service agencies to commemorate those who were lost on September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years prior, 2,977 individuals were killed in the attacks that occurred in New York, at the Pentagon, and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

According to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, 343 members of the Fire Department of the City of New York lost their lives, which represented the greatest loss of rescue workers in American history.The Memorial continues to honor the victims and the emergency responders who worked at the World Trade Center following the attacks.

For the firefighters in Boothbay Harbor, the anniversary served as a chance to acknowledge the values of service, teamwork, and duty that are fundamental to the fire service.

The department was recognized as a key resource in the Boothbay Region emergency plan, along with fire, emergency medical services, law enforcement, and emergency management agencies.
