St. George Fire Reflects on the Night Before 9/11

The St. George Fire & Rescue Department is commemorating the individuals who went to bed on the nite of September 10, 2001, anticipating a typical day ahead on the 25th anniversary of September 11.

The department's message is reflected in flight crews and passengers getting ready for early flights, employees getting ready for another workday, police and firemen getting ready for their shifts, and emergency medical staff being ready to help others.

343 FDNY firemen, 23 NYPD policemen, 37 Port Authority police officers, and eight paramedics and emergency medical technicians were among those killed on September 11. In addition to the four hijacked planes and the Pentagon, almost 2,600 individuals perished at the World Trade Center. The government also honored the search and rescue canines who served at the Pentagon and World Trade Center sites, including those that passed away or subsequently experienced health issues related to their jobs.

Residents were urged by St. George Fire & Rescue to take a minute to appreciate the people and moments in their own life while also remembering the lives lost.

The department still pays tribute to individuals who never made it back home 25 years later.
