Alna, ME — August 12 — The Alna Volunteer Fire Department organized a combined training event on Wednesday, bringing together firefighters from Alna, Edgecomb, Wiscasset, and Westport.Around 30 fire personnel participated in the training, which centered on water supply procedures and hose management.
A part of the training involved transporting and delivering water, with teams practicing the process of moving water to a fire scene.
Firefighters also engaged in exercises on using nozzles and applying water effectively.During the session, Westport Fire Chief Stacey Hutchison watched as a young aspiring firefighter, under the guidance of experienced firefighters, practiced proper nozzle techniques.
The joint training allowed the fire departments to collaborate and gain experience with the tools and methods used by other local agencies.
This collaboration had previously taken place during earlier exercises focused on search and rescue and structural firefighting.
The training aligned with Maine’s efforts to ensure firefighters remain skilled and prepared before they are assigned to actual fire incidents.
