Barre Town Fire Gets $10,000 Grant

August 18, 2026 — Barre Town, Vermont: Through the State Farm Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program, which is run in collaboration with the National Volunteer Fire Council, the Barre Town Fire Department has been awarded a $10,000 grant.

The cash will be used by the department to buy eight Smokechaser wildland pumps, four Windlass tourniquets, two 90-degree supply-line elbows, twenty Streamlight Survivor X LED lights, and eighteen Fire-Dex H41 structure firefighting hoods.

In addition to emergency medical supplies, the equipment will give firefighters extra protective clothing, lights, and tools for structural and wildland operations. The 2026 program awarded $10,000 grants to 150 volunteer fire departments in 43 states. State Farm and the NVFC said the grants are intended to improve firefighter safety, operational readiness and service to local communities.
