Athol Fire Handles 373 Calls in July

The Athol Fire Department handled 373 calls in July 2026, according to monthly statistics released by the department.


The greatest portion was with emergency medical services, with 229 EMS calls. The department also responded to 41 calls for fire or explosion, nine motor vehicle accidents and 31 service calls.


During the month, the department responded to 63 inspection and fire prevention calls. There were no calls for hazardous conditions, good intent calls or severe weather.


Of the 373 total calls, 262 did not require mutual aid, Athol Fire provided mutual aid on 46 calls and received mutual aid on two calls. The July total was lower than June's 424 calls. EMS calls also decreased slightly, from 231 in June to 229 in July, while motor vehicle accident calls increased from six to nine.


The Athol Fire Department provides fire suppression, rescue and advanced life support services in Athol and surrounding communities. The department says call volume and call types can vary with the season.
