ST. GEORGE, ME — AUGUST 26 — St.George Fire & Rescue completed a chainsaw training session that covered operation, equipment checks, and cutting techniques.Firefighters first reviewed the chainsaw's components, operating procedures, and safety practices before moving on to hands-on tasks.This training provided members with the opportunity to practice essential skills used when trees or branches block roads, damage property, or create hazards following storms.

The training also included cross-training sessions with members of the department’s EMS team. This collaboration allowed fire and EMS personnel to review their roles, improve communication, and enhance scene coordination, while also fostering better familiarity between the two response groups.

St. George Fire & Rescue functions as a call department serving the areas of Tenants Harbor, Port Clyde, and Seal Harbor Road. According to town records, the department responded to 22 calls related to downed trees in 2022, along with calls involving fire, rescue, and EMS assistance. The training facility supports instruction for other departments as well. Continued training is vital for ensuring crews are fully prepared for mutual-aid operations.
