Bennett Cohen Was Recognized for Life-Saving EMS Response

CAMDEN, ME — AUGUST 27 — Bennett Cohen, a firefighter/EMT with Camden Fire & Rescue, was honored for his part in a cardiac arrest response during the 2026 U.S.National Toboggan Championships at Camden Snow Bowl.
They were approximately 40 feet away when a competitor collapsed, and CPR was started immediately.Cohen joined forces with personnel from North East Mobile Health Services, Ragged Mountain Ski Patrol, and Camden responders to provide care to the patient.
The response involved chest compressions, ventilation, the use of a mechanical compression device, and defibrillation.
The patient regained a pulse and was later discharged from the hospital.
Cohen and the responders were later acknowledged by Friends of EMS for Maine. This incident encouraged Camden Fire & Rescue to continue promoting CPR training and coordinating emergency response efforts. The situation highlighted the importance of training and teamwork during emergencies.
