Ashland Firefighters Recognized for Critical Pediatric Patient Care

ASHLAND, MA — August 13, 2026 — During a recent critical pediatric medical emergency, Ashland Fire Department members received recognition for their efforts.


Greg McFarland, CEO of MetroWest Medical Center, and Stefano Gabrielle, MD, the medical director of the department, paid a visit to the fire station to give department members pins and personally thank them for their patient care during the call.


Lt. Brovelli, Firefighter McDonald, Firefighter Sheehan, and Firefighter Hays were the members identified.


According to the agency, the members received commendation for their efforts in providing crucial medical care to a pediatric patient. The department's release did not specify the precise medical condition or the course of therapy.
