STAMFORD, VT — August 10 — The Stamford Volunteer Fire Department handled a medical emergency on August 10, offering the first emergency response in the town.

Medical emergency calls continued to be a key part of the department’s duties. The department also noted that its members offer both fire and emergency medical services as part of their emergency response responsibilities.

Stamford Fire Department records also show the department’s long history of involvement in medical response.

Officials stated that Stamford firefighters have been responding to medical emergencies since 1982, providing a range of services such as CPR, using automated external defibrillators (AEDs), controlling bleeding, stabilizing fractures, checking blood glucose levels, administering Narcan, and providing oxygen.
