Westport, CT - Firefighters with the Town of Westport Fire Department conducted a hands-on rescue training exercise focused on safely repositioning vehicles during complex emergency operations.
The training involved a controlled vehicle roll using a donated vehicle, allowing firefighters to practice a technique that may be required when rescuers encounter overturned or severely damaged vehicles at an emergency scene.
On August 12, crews carefully carried out the maneuver while focusing on coordination, vehicle control and responder safety. Following the controlled roll, firefighters stabilized the vehicle before moving forward with the simulated rescue operation.
The exercise gave firefighters an opportunity to strengthen their vehicle-extrication skills and practice working together under conditions that replicate the challenges of an actual emergency response.
Regular hands-on training such as this helps ensure Westport firefighters remain prepared to respond efficiently and safely when complex vehicle rescue situations arise.
