Keeseville Firefighters Conducted Pump and Aerial Operations Training

KEESEVILLE, NY — August 13 — The Keeseville Fire Department held hands-on training on August 13, focusing on pump operations, water supply management, and aerial apparatus handling.


Firefighters engaged in practice sessions involving drafting and setting up a water supply before moving on to aerial operations.

This session allowed department members to work with the apparatus and review the procedures required to position, operate, and supply an aerial device during a fire incident.


New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control offers training programs that include Apparatus Operator-Pump instruction, which covers pump controls, hydraulics, fire streams, drafting, and pump operations.

Additionally, the state training includes Apparatus Operator-Aerial Device instruction, which focuses on the operation, inspection, placement, and stabilization of aerial equipment.These skills ensure safe and effective use of apparatus during fire operations.


The Keeseville training provided firefighters with practical experience in pump and aerial functions, while also allowing them to review equipment and operating procedures in a controlled environment.
