WELLSVILLE, NY — August 30 — The Wellsville Fire Department conducted a training session at the Wellsville Training Facility on Sunday, August 30, focusing on ladder truck operations and associated engine company procedures.
Junior members and newer engine company personnel participated in a tour of Wellsville 9, the department's aerial apparatus.
The training included topics such as ground ladders, ladder placement and setup, hydrant connections, and the process of linking the engine to the aerial apparatus.Participants also practiced operating the master stream nozzle on the bucket and climbing the aerial ladder.
During the session, Wellsville 2 and Wellsville 9 were used.
Instruction was provided by Captains from Emerald Hook & Ladder Company No.3, who demonstrated apparatus operations and ladder work.
This training allowed newer members to gain hands-on experience with equipment they may encounter during actual fire incidents.
According to county records, the Wellsville Fire Department is based at 40 South Main Street, and Emerald Hook & Ladder Company No.3 is one of its affiliated companies.
Allegany County emergency services records identify Wellsville 9 as an aerial apparatus and Wellsville 2 as a pumper, which aligns with the equipment assignments noted in the training.
The session offered practical experience with aerial operations, ground ladders, water supply connections, and the coordination between engine and ladder companies.
