Cambridge, VT - Cambridge Fire Department, Vermont crews conducted a backcountry training evolution focused on off-road ATV and UTV operations combined with a simulated wildland fire scenario.

On 13 August, personnel operated in remote terrain requiring full self-sustained movement of equipment away from established water sources. Crews utilized ATV and UTV platforms to ferry wildland firefighting gear, pumps, and hose lines deep into inaccessible areas, simulating real-world deployment conditions in rugged backcountry environments.

Once on location, firefighters assembled portable wildland pump systems and established hose lines, advancing them into elevated and difficult terrain to simulate suppression operations in areas beyond the reach of standard apparatus and hydrant support.

The exercise emphasized mobility, equipment deployment efficiency, and adaptability in remote fire conditions, reinforcing critical wildland firefighting skills and coordinated crew operations under challenging terrain constraints.
