BARKER, NY — On July 31— Barker Fire Department Inc. carried out a live-fire training exercise that provided new firefighters with the chance to train alongside more experienced members.

The training emphasized practical learning, with senior firefighters sharing real-world skills and lessons they had gained through years of service.

The exercise allowed new firefighters to practice in realistic fire conditions while operating within a controlled environment.

Barker Fire Department Inc. was the first department to respond to the training operation. No other departments, including assisting or mutual-aid units, were involved in this training.

The live-burn exercise enabled members to practice foreground operations, team coordination, and working in active fire environments.

Conducting live-fire training requires thorough planning, qualified instructors, proper protective gear, and strict safety protocols.

For new firefighters, the training helped connect classroom learning with hands-on experience.
