Continental Village, NY - The Continental Village Volunteer Fire Department played a vital logistical and water supply role on the evening of Friday, October 9, 2026, mobilizing apparatus to support the Garrison Volunteer Fire Company at the scene of a large, working barn fire.
Just before 8:00 p.m., Continental Village was initially requested to provide district coverage, standing by with an engine crew at Garrison Fire Headquarters while primary units battled the heavy blaze. As the fireground demands escalated, incident commanders called for additional water resources, dispatching Continental Village's tanker directly to the incident.
Upon arrival, the Garrison Fire Chief assigned CVFD personnel to establish and staff a high-capacity municipal fill site at a nearby hydrant. Continental Village firefighters managed continuous supply-line filling operations, cycling regional tankers through the fill station to maintain an uninterrupted flow of water to frontline suppression lines and master streams.
Department leadership praised the seamless coordination among neighboring agencies, highlighting that robust mutual aid partnerships and coordinated water-shuttle logistics remain vital to successfully containing heavy rural fires.
