Arkport Crews Responded to Choking Patient on East Avenue

Arkport, NY — August 6 — A reported choking incident led to the arrival of fire and emergency medical services at East Avenue in the Village of Ark port on August 6.
At around 8:47 a.m., Arkport Hose Co.
#1 Inc., which is the first responding fire department, was sent along with the City of Hornell Fire Department ambulance to assist a patient who was experiencing difficulty breathing due to choking.

members, including Medic 2, Chief 2, and Car 271, responded to the scene. Fire personnel worked alongside the emergency medical team to provide immediate care during the medical emergency. The patient was later taken to St. James Hospital in Cornell for further treatment.
The Town of Connellsville recognizes Arkport Hose Co.
#1 as one of the volunteer fire companies offering fire protection in the area, and it lists the department's address as 6 Park Avenue. The town also notes that the City of Cornell provides emergency ambulance services to residents in the region.
St. James Hospital, now part of UR Medicine, operates an emergency department and serves communities in and around Steuben County. The hospital is located at 7329 Seneca Road North in Cornell.
For fire and emergency medical services personnel, responding to choke emergencies involves quick coordination between first responders and medical teams.
The August 6 incident resulted in the patient being transported for continued care.
