QUEENSBURY, NY — August 20, 2026 — On Thursday nite, Queensbury Central Fire Company members practiced wall breaching and emergency egress while working in SCBA.

Along with training through a series of wall-breaching exercises, the practice provided firefighters with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the department's new Scott 5500-psi air packs.

With features like a heads-up display and PASS technology, Scott's 5.5 SCBA line, which uses 5,500-psi cylinders, is intended to give firefighters a high-pressure breathing air system.

Members trained how to make an emergency exit via a wall in the event that a regular route of escape is no longer accessible during the training. The department claims that while wearing their SCBA, they practiced both partial and full escape procedures.

Queensbury Central Fire Company operates from stations at 17 Lafayette Street and 145 Aviation Road and provides fire suppression, EMS, hazardous-material response, fire prevention and other emergency services in Queensbury.
