WYOMING, NY — August 21 — Firefighters in Wyoming came together to pay tribute to firefighter Joe Lee, who has dedicated more than 67 years to the fire service, with 55 of those years spent with Wyoming Hook & Ladder Co.Inc., located at 26 Maple St., Wyoming, NY.The event featured a parade that passed by Lee’s home, organized by the lead department, Wyoming Hook & Ladder Co.Inc.Other departments and representatives, including Attica Fire Department, Strykersville Fire Department, Eagle Hose, WY-52 Bill Sticker, former WY-53 Gary Huff, Bethany Fire Department, Perry Center Fire Department, Warsaw Fire Department, Pavilion Fire Department, and North Java Fire Department, also participated in the recognition.

Lee’s service was acknowledged for his long-standing commitment, which included acting as a deputy fire coordinator for Wyoming County.

Public records confirm his role in this capacity, and in 2006, the county honored him for 28 years of volunteer service in that position.

For the firefighters involved, the event was more than just a parade.

It was a chance to celebrate the bonds and relationships formed over many years, through calls for service, training, departmental work, and support for surrounding communities.

The event also emphasized the tradition within the fire service of honoring those who have contributed to the development of departments and guided future generations.

The widespread participation from departments in Wyoming and Genesee counties demonstrated the deep respect and admiration Lee has earned throughout his career in the fire service.
